Councilman's Son Enters Plea In Drug Related Case

Written by KEY News Staff

Santa Barbara - The son of embattled Carpinteria City Councilman Joe Armendariz made a court appearance for drug related charges Tuesday afternoon.

Joseph James Armendariz plead guilty to possession of mushrooms and was ordered to complete an 18 month treatment program. If he completes it, the case will be dismissed.

Armendariz's father was arrested in December after a crash that investigators say was alcohol related. The district attorney's office says he had a blood alcohol level of .18, which is twice the legal limit.
