Cold Spring Bridge Suicide Barrier Project to Resume Next Week

Santa Barbara County - A project to install a suicide barrier on the Cold Spring Bridge on Highway 154 will begin next week.

Starting Jan. 17, a grid mesh barrier will be installed on both sides of the Cold Spring Bridge, which has been the location of 55 suicides since it was opened in 1964.

Motorists will encounter one-way reversing traffic control Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Detour signs will also be posted.

This project is expected to be completed this spring, weather permitting.
