Charges Filed in Montecito Motors Case

Written by KEYT Producer

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley announced on Tuesday that charges are being filed in a case involving Montecito Motors, Inc. After a lengthy investigation by the Santa Barbara Police Department, in conjunction with the state of California Franchise Tax Board, and the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office, a 59-count complaint was filed against Chester Adam Taylor, Chester Lee Taylor, Jennifer Taylor, and Sarah Jeanne Taylor-Swing.

Residents allege Montecito Motors sold their cars, but when it came time to pay them their cut, the business owners didn't give them their money. Investigators say tens of thousands of dollars are owed to people who trusted Montecito Motors to sell their vehicles on consignment.

Authorities arrested Chester Adam Taylor and Chester Lee Taylor on Tuesday. They are being held on $1,000,000 bail each. Jennifer Taylor and Sarah Jeanne Taylor-Swing were sent letters to appear in court on the charges against them. The defendants are scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
