UPDATE: Woman Injured After Vehicle Goes Over Embankment

Santa Barbara County - A woman is recovering from moderate injuries after her SUV plunged over the side of Highway 154 late Thursday morning.

It happened just after 11:30 a.m. in the Windy Gap area.

Santa Barbara County Fire Captain David Sadecki says the woman was heading north up the pass when she veered across the southbound lanes and plummeted 100 feet down the mountainside.

It took a team of 30 emergency workers and a rope system to get down to the victim.

Sadecki says the cause of the crash is under investigation by the C-H-P.
