Fatal Car Crash on Highway 154 Claims One Life

Written by KEYT Producer

Santa Barbara County Fire personnel and several ambulances were called to the scene of a head-on collision on Highway 154, just three miles east of Lake Cachuma around 10:30 on Wednesday night.

A 62-year-old yet to be identified Oxnard resident was apparently driving around 45 miles an hour west of the San Marcos Golf course, when for unknown reasons, his 1994 Toyota drifted over the double yellow lines and directly into the path of a 2010 Ford.

The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford and her four passengers were taken to Cottage Hospital where they are being treated for minor to moderate injuries.

Traffic on the Highway was backed up for several hours while the crash site was investigated and cleared.
