Brand New Cafeteria For SBHS

Written by Ryan Carmel

Santa Barbara - Construction is underway on a brand new cafeteria at Santa Barbara High School.

Problems from old age and mold lead school officials to completely close the eating area a couple years ago.

The $4 million project is being paid for with Measure Q money voters approved in 2010. The new facility will allow many healthy lunch choices for students. The school also plans to compost food waste and cook with fruits and vegetables grown in campus gardens.

The project should be complete by the time the next school year starts in August.
