Bell City Salaries The Talk of the Town

Written by KEYT Reporter

One California city is being criticized statewide for paying city leaders more than the President and the Los Angeles Chief of Police.

The city manager of Bell City makes 788 thousand dollars a year.

The assistant manager who used to work in Ventura county makes about half that.

The Chief of Police, Randy Adams, who used to be the Chief in Simi Valley makes 475 thousand a year.

Simi Valley Leaders says it may not be illegal but its unethical to pay that much in this economic climate.

By Comparison Mike Sedell makes 230 thousand dollars a year as the City Manager of Simi Valley, a city four times the size.

And the Police Chief in Santa Paula that is almost as big as Bell City makes 129 thousand a year.

Local City Council members say transparency is important to show taxpayers what they get for their money.
