Alleged DUI Driver Hits 8 Cars

An alleged cab driver was arrested early Wednesday morning after swiping several cars while reportedly driving under the influence.

Cars on the 200 block of Cottage Grove were the first ones to get nailed by the alleged drunk cab driver in the early morning hours.

Witnesses say a total of eight cars were hit in this two block area of downtown Santa Barbara around 4 a.m. this morning.

The driver first hit a black Mercedes on the 200-block of W.Cottage Grove before turning the corner and striking seven other cars parked on the 200-block of West Haley Street.

Residents say it was a rude awakening to find their cars damaged this morning.

Authorities found the cab abandoned on the 500-block of Anacapa Street and found the driver on the 600-block of State Street.

The driver of the car is being charged with driving under the influence.
