Santa Barbara's Sheriff's officials conducted a day-long marijuana sweep operation on Monday.
The Sheriff's Aviation crew spotted thousands of plants in the National Forest last week and Monday officials cleared it out.

Sheriff's Deputies, with the assistance of CAMP (Campaign Against Marijuana Planting) and the DEA eradicated a Marijuana field east of Hwy 154 and below East Camino Cielo.
A total of 6,345 plants were seized yesterday, bringing the total number of plants seized in Santa Barbara County this season to 102,218. The value of the plants seized this year in Santa Barbara County alone is estimated at over $327,000,000

Twenty officials aided in the search with Helicopters and foot patrol. The Sheriff's Department says they destroyed the plants.

Authorities say they will continue to eradicate marijuana as it is discovered throughout the year.

Marijuana plantations are very often the work of dangerous drug cartels, and visitors who happen to spot them may be assaulted, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Anyone with information leading to the illegal growth of marijuana should call Santa Barbara's Sheriff Department.
