UPDATE: Search for Missing Firefighter

Gaviota- After searching all week, the reality is starting to set in that rescue teams will not find a missing kayaker alive. In fact, a spokesperson for the search says it has become a "search for closure."

32-year-old Sean Fleming went missing over the weekend during a kayaking and fishing trip off the Gavilota Coast.

Fleming, a base firefighter at Vandenberg , was last seen on June 19th ing near Gaviota State Beach. He was reported missing on Monday, after failing to show up for work.

On Tuesday search and rescue crews were investigating a back-pack and kayak, that was found by a fishing boat along the Santa Barbara coast. Since then there have been no other discoveries that could lead to Fleming's whereabouts.

Vandenberg Fire Department water rescue unit has been conducting searches on small water craft. And, ground searches in the area are being conducted by the Vandenberg Hot Shots.

Search organizers say there has been an outpouring of support from local and base businesses providing food, beverages and assistance to the search crews.
