Community Outraged At Local Animal Shelter

KEYT Producer

Animal lovers gathered along highway 246 in Bulleton this morning, to protest against the Santa Ynez Humane Society, calling attention to a laundry list of problems.

Their biggest concern, is that the animals are being adopted too quickly and the shelter isn't adequately screening people who want to take home a new pet.

Jeanne Glover, an ex-volunteer says all the trouble started after The Humane Society euthanizing a Dachshund by the name of "Charlie" after biting several people, but when they questioned the shelters decision, their services were no longer needed.

Despite today's rally, The Santa Ynez Humane Society says they will continue to do what they do best and that's give animals a good home, but protesters say its all just a big disguise.
