Isla Vista HousingA newly accepted affordable housing plan for Isla Vista gets Santa Barbara County off the hook with the state, but not the community. The arrangement makes 62 acres of space available for 1200 plus affordable housing units in the college town in order to meet a 2008 mandate. This afternoon the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission got an earful from critics who complain the plan for Isla Vista doesn't help local families or the commuting workforce.
