Developer Eying Oceano Airport

KEYT Assignment Desk

Oceano, CA-- A local developer is pushing for changes at the Oceano Airport, and is inviting residents to talk about his plans at a meeting next month.

Jeff Edwards of Los Osos, wants to see the airport closed and re-developed with commercial and residential buildings.

The 58-acre plot of land is currently owned by the County of San Luis Obispo.

Edwards says the changes would create jobs in the small city. However, supervisors say they have no interest in selling the land, and airport officials say they're not interested in leasing it.

Dozens of residents showed up to a Wednesday night to protest the idea.

Edwards says they will hold five more meetings. The next is on April 21st.
