Written by KEYT Assignment Desk

Lompoc, CA-- The mother of a four-year-old boy allegedly beaten to death by her then boyfriend was sentenced to a year in county jail, this week.

Meagan Davis, 25, pleaded guilty to a felony child abuse charge, for not protecting her son. Davis' son Diego Calles, died last July from injuries prosecutors say were caused by Davis' then boyfriend.

Calles was allegedly abused by James Lujan at a Lompoc motel last July. Shortly after being taken to hospital after someone called 9-1-1 from the hotel, Calles died.

Several days later, James Lujan was arrested and accused of physical abuse, which eventually lead to Calles' death.

Lujan has been ordered to stand trial on charges of murder, child abuse causing death, and torture charges.
