Suspect Injured By Police Gunfire During Investigation

Written by KEYT Assignment Desk

Oxnard, CA-- The Oxnard Police Department is trying to figure out what caused an officer to shot an 18-year-old, accused of robbing and sexually assaulting a teen girl.

It happened on the 4900 block of South Rose Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. Luis Tejada suffered a single gunshot wound, as officers tried to contact him about allegations made against him.

Police say the gunfire was not intentional and are withholding the identity of the officer involved, until a full investigation can be completed.

Tejada was treated at a local hospital.
