Health Care Reform Picking Up Steam As Deadline Approaches

Written by KEYT Assignment Desk

Working against a self-imposed deadline, Democrats made some much-needed progress rounding up support for their health-care reform bill.

As Democrats gained support in Washington, residents on the Central Coast expressed their frustration with local, lawmakers and their stance on health care reform.

In San Luis Obispo, a crowd gathered outside the office of Congresswoman Lois Capps (D). They say Capps is not representing her constituents with her stance on the issue of reform.

Back on Capital Hill, Representative Dennis Kucinich, a prominent democratic holdout, finally pledged his vote. Kucinich is one of several democrats, who originally voted against the bill in November.

Residents who participated in Wednesday's rally say, the cost of reform it too much for an already burdened tax base.

This weekend, the House is expected to vote on a revamped bill, previously approved by the Senate.
