Supes Grant Extension For Caruso's Miramar Project

Written by KEYT Assignment Desk

Santa Barbara, CA-- On Tuesday, Miramar developer Rick Caruso was granted building permit extensions for the hotel project.

After board chairwoman, Janet Wolf questioned the Caruso's intentions, the Santa Barbara County Supervisors did grant Caruso a one year extension. The extension will apply to a majority of 192-room hotel.

A five-year extension was granted on several other conditional use permits, which are for smaller projects around the Montecito property.

It took several years for Caruso's Miramar Project to gain approval, which was met with opposition from local residents.

In his request for an extension, Caruso cited a troubled hotel industry, an industry like many others, that is still trying to recoup loses after the recent economic downturn.
