Funding Secured For Courthouse Improvements

KEYT Assignment Desk

Santa Barbara, CA-- State Public Works recently approved a $152-million renovation to the Santa Barbara County Courthouse.

The new facility will house secure holding cells, eight new criminal courtrooms and jury assembly quarters. Plus, the multi-million dollar renovation will be paid for with money, already set aside.

Gary Blair, Santa Barbara County Court's Executive Officer says, the funding comes from court fees, generated by those who violate the laws.

Final plans must be approved, but expect construction to be completed by October, 2015.
