US Marshals Help Track Down Attempted Murder Suspects

Written by KEYT Assignment Desk

Santa Barbara, CA-- It took multiple agencies to track down two of the four suspects believed to be involved in a March 1st shooting. Santa Barbara Police are crediting the public's help with getting these two into custody.

During a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Chief Cam Sanchez said officers were working around the clock to solve this case.

52-year-old Jack Mills and his wife, 50-year-old Rebecca Mills, were arrested Monday morning in Pahrump, Nevada, with the help of U.S. Marshals. The mills are still in custody in Nevada, currently awaiting extradition.

Investigators say both suspects are former Lompoc residents.

Detectives believe Mr. Mills knocked on the door of the home and when a female answered he punched her in the stomach. When her adult nephew tried to protect her, that's when Mills allegedly shot him in the head.

Police then searched for the getaway car, a 1993 Volvo sedan.

A tip came into police, saying someone spotted the car the day before the shooting, at a gas station in Goleta. That vital tip helped locate the couple.

Police are still searching for two more suspects believed to be involved in the shooting.
