KEYT Assignment Desk

A woman reported missing out of Orange County, led authorities in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties on a high-speed chase Friday morning.

Around 9 a.m. CHP officers pulled over a car matching the description of a missing persons report out of Orange County.

As officers approached the 2007 Mercedes, the 26-year-old driver sped away, then came to a stop again just north of the Santa Maria River Bridge on Highway 101.

The woman, again tried to flee officers, and maneuvered her vehicle around two patrol cars.

She then led officers on a chase that reached speeds up to 120 mph. Eventually a spike strip was deployed at the Tefft Street over crossing. However, the woman continued to drive northbound with a flat tire.

The woman's vehicle eventually came to a stop just south of Los Berros Road. That's where Jessica Albrooke jumped out, and led officers on a short foot pursuit.

Albrooke was taken into custody just before 9:30 this morning after officers had to tackle her, to keep her from fleeing. The woman resisted arrested and broke out a rear side window of one of the CHP patrol units.

Albrooke was taken to Marian Medical Center to undergo a mental-health evaluation.
