No Contest Plea Entered In USC Fatal Crash

The couple accused of running down 18-year-old Adrianna Bachan and seriously injuring 19-year-old Marcus Garfinkle, pleaded no contest to charges, Thursday morning.

Claudia Cabrera, 31, and her boyfriend Jose Luna, 33, were facing charges of felony hit-and-run, stemming from an incident that left the Santa Barbara High School grad dead.

Bachan and Garfinkle, who were students at USC, were hit in a crosswalk last March. Bachan died as result of her injuries, but Garfinkle did survive.

Investigators believe Cabrera was behind the wheel of the car that struck the students. They say, the couple continued driving after hitting Bachan and Garfinkle, and that Luna jumped out of the car to pull Garfinkle from the hood before leaving the scene.

The two are expected back in court for sentencing on May 24th.
