Neil Baker Released From Custody

Written by KEYT Assignment Desk

Neil Baker, the Washington man accused of threatening violence against UCSB employees, was released from custody on Thursday.

Baker was arrested back in February for allegedly posting dozens of threats towards UC Santa Barbara staff and students.

On February 22nd, he pleaded not guilty to one charge of threats to injure a person, which is a felony in the state of Washington.

University officials say Baker has been served with paperwork, that indicates his presence on any UCSB property is a crime.

Baker worked in the Engineering Department at the university before he was fired in 2004.

Authorities want residents to call UCSB Police or 911 if they see Baker on campus or any areas surrounding the school. Baker may possibly be affiliated with a Green ’79 GMC Truck, full size standard cab pickup, with a Washington plate of A35956X.

He is expected to stand trial for the crimes on April 12th.
