Metrolink: Proposed Fee Hikes & Route Changes

KEYT Producer

Metrolink is considering making changes to it's Ventura County routes. This week riders were informed of possible fee hikes and the possible elimination of up to half the routes serving Ventura County.

Eight routes could be discontinued and six could could see significant changes. It's expected that most of the less frequently used midday routes will be cut and fares will go up from 3% to 6%.

The changes are being considered so that Metrolink can make up a growing budget gap.

Metrolink serves 4,000 Ventura County riders. Kieth Millhouse, chairman of the Metrolink board and a Moorpark City Councilman, advises those concerned about the proposals to speak out to the Ventura County Transportation Commission and Metrolink.
