The city of Ventura is trying to become a Google fiber optic community.
Google plans to choose a handful of cities as part of a pilot program.

Chosen cities will enjoy one gigabyte technology that is about a hundred times faster than most internet connections.

One thing Ventura has going for it is a new high tech venture incubator at city hall that offers start up space.

Local can help Ventura win by bring Google signs to the cities St. Patrick's Day parade on Main Street Saturday.
