What's Right: Students Take Action To Protect Whales

KEYT Producer

Second and third grade students at Santa Barbara Charter School Wednesday, joined forces with the Santa Barbara Environmental Defense Center to pick up trash from Goleta beach.

With their parents, teachers and other volunteers, the event allowed the children to take action in protecting our local ocean habitat, while bringing their classroom ocean science studies to life.

With grant money from the Santa Barbara County Education Office, the students will donate close to $400 to the Environmental Defense Center's fight to protect blue whales.

KEY News was there as the students cleaned up the beach. Hear from them tonight on KEY News at 6.
