Shooting Victim Was Protecting His Aunt

Santa Barbara, CA-- New information just released by the Santa Barbara Police Department indicates the man shot on Monday, on the 1500-block of Gillespie, was protecting a female at the home.

Police say, the suspects punched a woman in the doorway of the home, before pulling a gun and firing.

The woman's nephew told police he stepped in to protect his aunt, that's when he was shot in the head.

The victim was rushed to Cottage Hospital, where he immediately underwent emergency surgery to remove a bullet fragment from his skull. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators are still searching for four suspects connected to the shooting.
