Rove's Visit Sparks Outrage

Written by llia Domon

A visit from one of the Nation's most polarizing political figures sparked outrage at UCSB Thursday night.

Former White House advisor Karl Rove, the man credited for getting president George W. Bush elected twice, spoke at Campbell Hall igniting a protest.

College Republicans and local conservatives paid for most of Rove's 25-thousand dollar speaking fee. But more than 12-thousand dollars in mixed student fees and funds from the Associated Students reportedly help pay the rest including security costs.

When Rove emerged on stage before a very spirited audience, some students walked out in protest.

Rove came prepared, unflustered by hecklers as he spoke about the current state of politics while promoting his new book, "Courage and Consequence".

It is billed as the first intimate account from the highest level at the White House of one of the most headline-making presidencies of the modern age.
