'Hurt Locker' Director Honored At SBIFF

Kathryn Bigelow, who recently was featured as ABC World News Tonight's 'Person of the Week,' was honored Monday night as the Santa Barbara International Film Festival's Outstanding Director of the Year.

The 58-year old film director, scored an upset last week when she won the Directors Guild of America's top honor, over her ex-husband James Cameron.

Bigelow's film 'Hurt Locker,' is described as an edge-of-your-seat war drama, focusing on the story of soldiers, injured by explosions in the war torn areas of Iraq.

The film earned Bigelow an Academy Award nomination for Best Director, making her the fourth women ever, to receive the prestigious nomination.
