Business Owners Counting On Oscar® Buzz To Boost Festival Revenue

Santa Barbara, CA-- With the 25th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival just hours away, local business owners are gearing up for tourists and their wallets.

On the heels of this week's announcement of the 82nd Academy Award nominations, locals are hoping the Oscar® buzz will make for a busy two weeks.

Several Santa Barbara Film Festival honorees are up for Oscars this year. James Cameron's "Avatar" and Katherine Bigelow's "Hurt Locker," are up for Best Picture this year. Both Cameron and Bigelow are being honored during this year's festival.

Quinton Tarantino, who directed Best Picture nominee "Inglorious Bastards," is also expected to take part in a discussion panel.

Also expected, Best Actress nominees Sandra Bullock and Gabourey Sidibe of "Precious" and Best Actor nominee Jeff Bridges.

A total of 30 nominated stars are scheduled to appear at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

The festival opens on Thursday night at the Arlington Theater, with the world premiere of "Flying Lessons," which takes place in the Santa Ynez Valley.
