Residents Warned Of Mountain Lion In Ventura

Written by Christina Heller

Ventura, CA-- For a third time in less than a week, residents living near Arroyo Verde Park reported seeing a mountain lion.

The latest sighting was reported Tuesday morning when residents say, they saw a big cat in the backyard of a home near Sherwood Drive and Fernwood Drive. The home is located above Ventura High School.

The cat left the area by the time law enforcement arrived. However, residents were alerted of the mountain lion's presence with the help of the City's telephone notification system.

Last Thursday and Friday, the Ventura Police Department received reports of a cat near Foothill Road.

Warning signs are posted in the areas near the recent sightings, and authorities want to remind residents to keep their distance if they do see a mountain lion.
