Cesar Chavez' Charter Lives On, Until June

Christina Heller

Santa Barbara, CA-- In front of a packed house Tuesday night, Santa Barbara's School board passed a resolution to extends Cesar Chavez Charter School's current charter, through the end of the school year.

This allows for oversight by District Administrators and buys time for officials to draft a new charter or apply to renew the old one.

Cesar Chavez Charter School, unites students from various backgrounds and educates them in both English and Spanish cultures and languages.

At Tuesday's meeting, school supporters gathered outside the Santa Barbara high School Auditorium and spoke in favor of saving the school.

Now school officials will sit down district administrators and try to formulate a plan to renew the school's current charter or possibly, even draft a new one.
