Kids Get Story Time With Local Community Leaders

Christina Heller

Santa Barbara, CA-- On Thursday, Fighting fires and tracking down bad guys took a back seat to reading.

Barnes and Noble teamed up with First 5 in downtown Santa Barbara, to raise literacy awareness and money for new library books.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Joyce Dudley entertained a group of pre-schoolers with "The Runaway Bunny."

While Fire Captain Robert Mercado read "Curious George Meets The Firefighters," he also has an important message for the kids. Captain Mercado reminded the young ones the importance of having a working smoke detector in their home.

The special story time event takes place again on Friday and runs through Sunday at Barnes and Noble on State Street.
