Human Remains Found Near Jesusita Trail

Christina Heller

Santa Barbara, CA-- A spokesman with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department confirmed to KEY News, that human remains were found in area burned by the Jesusita Fire.

They were located by a passerby on September 6th. Efforts to identify the remains have not been successful.

Drew Sugars, with the Sheriff's Department says information at this time is limited. It has been determined the bones are that of an adult male.

He says experts have determined the height of the deceased person to be between five foot six inches and six foot three inches.

Photos of a pair of glasses and a pendant found in the area have been released but its unclear if they are connected to the bones.

Sugars says the remains are believed to have be in the area prior to the fire that broke out May 5th and destroyed over 80 homes. That fire was started along the Jesusita trail.
