Students Rally Against UC Fee Hikes

Christina Heller

Goleta, CA-- The UC Regents are meeting at UCLA on Wednesday and Thursday, but protests are already taking place at many campuses throughout California. Students organizing the rallies are strongly against fee increases that could ratchet up their costs by 32-percent.

Students at UCSB, started their day in the hallway outside of Chancellor Henry Yang's office. They are against more fee increases, and say it will force some students especially those in their first years of college, to possibly drop out.

Chancellor Yang issued a statement saying, "I am committed to a listening tour to all the UC Campuses in my capacity as a member of the UC Commission on the future, and to an intensive fundraising effort on behalf of the campus and to advocating for state and federal support in Sacramento and Washington, D.C."
