Police Investigating Deadly Officer Involved Shooting

Christina Heller

Ventura, CA-- An investigation is underway into an officer involved shooting that claimed the life of a Simi Valley man.

Police say 34-year-old Daniel Chilson was wanted for his possible involvement with a domestic dispute in Simi Valley.

Chilson was spotted by police on the roof his workplace in the 2800 block of Palma Drive in Ventura during the early morning hours of Sunday.

Police engaged in a standoff with Chilson, that's when he threatened to shoot SWAT officers if they attempted to make contact with him.

Chilson was shot by police after holding officers at bay for over 12 hours. Officers say Chilson was armed and refused to peacefully comply and disarm himself.

According to Ventura Police Department, a full criminal investigation has been launched into the charges Chilson faced and an administrative investigation into the officer involved shooting.
