Standoff Ends Peacefully

A Santa Barbara SWAT team responded to a neighborhood near the corner of Valerio and De La Vina shortly before 9:00 p.m. Monday night. Authorities went to the area after a man allegedly fired a handgun inside his apartment. They say when they arrived, they saw an unidentified person talking to the suspect. Officials say that person calmed the suspect down, which helped authorities take the suspect into custody without incident about 11:00 p.m. Police evacuated two nearby apartments and a home as a precaution during the ordeal.
