Local Teens Hear First Hand Account Of Living Behind The Iron Curtain
Santa Barbara, CA-- They tore it down with picks and hammers, we're talking about the Berlin Wall.
Monday marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the wall that kept people from leaving communist east to the capitalist west. It happened two years after President Ronald Reagan gave his famous speech asking Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down the wall." The Young America's Foundation invited teenagers to hear from those who grew up behind the iron curtain during a panel discussion Monday afternoon. The teens were also able to get up close to section of the wall, that is on permanent display at the Reagan Ranch Center on State Street, in Santa Barbara. There is also an interactive display for visitor about the Cold War. |
