Woman Found Stabbed And Covered In Blood On The Side Of A Road

Ojai, CA-- A woman found stabbed beside a local highway is recovering from surgery after being airlifted to a local hospital.

Officers say they are still waiting to question her about what happened.

On Wednesday afternoon, a driver along Highway 33 just north of Matilija Road reported seeing a young woman lying by the roadway. When paramedics arrived they realized she had been stabbing in the stomach several times.

The Ventura County Sheriff Department's air unit flew the woman to the hospital while deputies searched for a suspect.

Ojai's Chief of Police says it is too soon to call it an attempted murder case.

Detectives are not releasing the woman's name, however hey say the people who found her may have saved her life.
