Woman Tasered After Attacking Cop With Golf Club

Ventura, CA-- A police officer with the Ventura Police Department was attacked Thursday night by a golf club-welding woman.

The suspect, 47-year-old Stephanie Swofford, of Ventura, was tased by the officer after she hit him in the torso with the club.

According to police, they were called to a disturbance at an apartment complex on the 200 block of Hemlock St.

When officers arriveed they found the woman smashing in windows with the gold club.

That's when one of the officers tried to calm her down, and was hit with the club by Swofford. The officer was able to pull out use his taser to subdue Swofford and placed her under arrest.

She was booked into Ventura County Jail on a number of charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
