Ventura County Gets First Shipment Of Swine Flu Shots
Oxnard, CA-- The first delivery of H1N1 vaccine shots arrived in Ventura County on Thursday. The Ventura County Public Health Department received the first, but small shipment of the injectable vaccines.
“The quantity of vaccine received does not even begin to immunize the at-risk population in Ventura County”, said Dr. Robert Levin, Health Officer. “It only represents 1% of the vaccine we hope to eventually get.” Health officials say the vaccine will only go to those at highest risk of infection and serious illness. That includes pregnant women, caretakers of infants under the age of 6 months, and anyone people with high risk conditions at any age. Over 300 private physicians throughout Ventura County will also provide the vaccine in the coming weeks.
