Woman Fights Off Rape Attempt
Oxnard, CA-- Police say a woman fought off a rape attempt Wednesday morning on the 1000 block of South H Street just before 8 a.m.
According detectives, the woman came home to find a stranger in her home. When she confronted the suspect in her hallway, he began attacking her. The victim told police that while she was fighting with the suspect in the hallway, he tried to rape her. That's when she reportedly grabbed something near her and hit the suspect on the forehead. After struggling with the woman, the suspect ran out of her home and jumped in his car. Like a scene from a movie, the suspect's car would not start and the woman managed to follow him out with pots and pans in her hands. As the suspect tried to start his car, the victim smashed in his windshield and a rear passenger window. The suspect finally started his car and drove away. Police were notified of the attack by the victim just seconds after the suspect fled. The suspect is described as an Hispanic male, 25 to 30-years-old, medium height, with brown eyes and black hair. Police say the suspect was wearing a white, blue or grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for a an older model, white Ford Explorer with a loud engine and two broken windows. Anyone with information should call Detective Sharon Giles at 385-7759. |
