KEY Assignment: Human Trafficking

Alys Martinez

The United States abolished slavery more than a hundred and fifty years ago, but it's still widespread today. Hidden beneath the surface of the American dream, traffickers bring thousands of men, women and children into the country each year. The traffickers take their passports, threaten to kill their families, and sell them as laborers and sex slaves. Even more disturbing, our state ranks first in in the nation with the more human trafficking cases and tops the list of child sex slave cases.

In a KEY Assignment, reporter Regina Ruiz reveals more on modern day slavery in America.
