City Council Candidate Defends Arrest Record

Written by Christina Heller

Santa Barbara, CA-- City Council candidate John Thyne admitted when he launched his campaign, that he had been arrested in 2007 for a DUI offense.

Now he is returning to court for a probation violation.

Thyne says, he was stopped and cited after having dinner, that included two glasses of wine.

He his BAC was tested by a police officer and was not over the legal limit.

However, as part of his probation, he is not supposed to have "any" alcohol in his system.

Thyne told KEY News, he believes voters will not make their individual decision based on his offense, and a lot of people may have similar experiences.

Thyne also says he has been honest with his supporters about the DUI issues.
