LocalRingleader Of Local Adoption Scam Is Headed To Prison
Santa Barbara, CA-- A convicted con man who ran a worldwide adoption scam from his Montecito estate is headed to prison.
Orson Mozes pleaded guilty Thursday afternoon to 17 of the 59 felony counts filed against him. Prosecutors say he preyed on couples who desperately wanted to adopt a child. They would pay Mozes up to $11,000 but, he would never keep his promise. At one point, Mozes was one of America's Most Wanted fugitives. Now, he'll spend three years and four months in prison and prosecutors say the victims will get some of their money back. However, prosecutors say Mozes still owes them between $700 and $800,000. |
