A Suspected Lover's Quarrel Spurred Simi Valley Shooting

Simi Valley, CA-- The man suspected of killing his 24-year-old wife at a Simi Valley dental office Wednesday morning, was taken into police custody shortly after the shooting.

Jamie Paredes, 29, was booked into Ventura County Jail and is expected to face murder charges.

Police say, Paredes entered the Family Dental Care Center on the corner of E. Los Angeles Avenue and Sinaloa, then began shooting. Paredes wife, Mariela Paredes died at the scene after being shot.

The motive is unclear but authorities say there was a domestic dispute between the two.

Four other people were shot during the rampage, three of those victims were critically wounded and remain hospitalized.

According to Captain Ross Bonfiglio with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, Paredes bail has been set at $3 million.
