Commission Votes To Reduce Lawmakers Per Diem Pay

Santa Barbara, CA-- The California Citizens Compensation Commission voted unanimously to reduce lawmakers health benefits, per diem pay and monthly allowances for state vehicles by 18-percent.

The cuts would go into effect on December 1st, and could save the state $1.2 million annually. This action follows a May 20th vote by the Commission to reduce legislators salaries by 18-percent.

Lawmaker's per diem is $173 for each day they're working in Sacramento.

The salary cut goes into effect December of 2010.
