Woman Makes Plea In Drunk Driving Crash

No contest. That's the plea entered Tuesday by a Santa Barbara woman charged with drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter. Now the fate of 22-year old Jessica Binkerd lies in the hands of a Superior Court Judge. And the woman who lost her son in this drunk-driving crash is asking the judge to be lenient on Binkerd.

Susan Arcady Barich wrote a letter to the court asking that Binkers receive probation rather than the maximum seven year in prison. In August Binkerd was driving home from a party with Barich's 25-year old son Alex Baer when her Ford crashed head-on into a Lexus. Baer was killed.
