County Will Not Confirm Reports Of Jackson Memorial Service

County Statement Regarding Funeral for Michael Jackson

Santa Barbara County officials have been meeting today regarding plans and logistics that would be required of the County if a funeral or memorial service for Michael Jackson occurs here or involves the property in the Santa Ynez Valley formerly known as the Neverland Ranch.

As of 3:00 p.m., June 30, however, the County cannot confirm that any such funeral or memorial plans for Michael Jackson will occur here despite widespread reports today by the news media that a funeral or memorial event is planned for the area.

Although the County has no official confirmation of an event here for Michael Jackson, County departments are preparing to accommodate a large event that is likely to occur should a memorial service be announced.

County officials from various departments, including the Sheriff, Fire, County Executive Office, County Counsel, Public Works, Public Health and others have been meeting throughout the day in anticipation that an event to honor Michael Jackson could occur here.

Currently, the County has no further information but will share updates on any plans and road conditions as appropriate.
