Doctor Involved in Prescription Case Dies

Christina Heller

A North Hollywood doctor accused of writing fraudulent prescriptions for Ventura County patients has died. Dr. Bernard Bass died at his home in Burbank. His attorney announced the death Monday. The Los Angeles County coroner's office has not yet determined a cause of death.

The 62-year-old pleaded guilty in May in a Ventura County
courtroom to conspiracy to commit fraudulent prescription activity. Prosecutors believe Bass pocketed cash in exchange for writing
hundreds of prescriptions to his patients, seven of whom died. Bass was never charged in connection with the deaths.
