Officials Say Missile Launch A Success

Christina Heller

Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA-- As an operational test to verify the reliability of weapons systems, military officials did just that in the form of an intercontinental ballistic missile launch from the base early Monday morning.

Base officials are calling the launch a success.

The missile was carrying three unarmed payloads and was destined for a pre-determined target near the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

Lt. Col. Lesa K. Toler with the 576th Flight Test Squadron said tests like Monday's are critical when it comes to "performing the mission of fighting and winning our nation's wars."
